道常無爲而無不爲, 侯王若能守之, 萬物將自化. 化而欲作, 吾將鎭之以無名之樸. 無名之樸, 夫亦將無欲. 不欲以靜, 天下將自定.

Đạo thường vô vi, nhi vô bất vi. Hầu vương nhược năng thủ chi, vạn vật tương tự hoá. Hoá nhi dục tác, ngô tương trấn chi dĩ vô danh chi phác. Vô danh chi phác, phù diệc tương vô dục. Bất dục dĩ tĩnh, thiên hạ tương tự định.

Vietnamese

Đạo thường không làm gì (vô vi) mà không gì không làm được. Nếu vương hầu giữ được Đạo, muôn vật sẽ tự biến hóa. Biến hóa mà muốn dấy lên ham muốn, ta sẽ trấn áp bằng sự mộc mạc không tên. Trấn áp bằng sự mộc mạc không tên, thì sẽ không còn ham muốn. Không ham muốn mà tĩnh lặng, thiên hạ sẽ tự ổn định.

1. 1. The Tao in its regular course does nothing (for the sake of

doing it), and so there is nothing which it does not do.

1. If princes and kings were able to maintain it, all things would of

themselves be transformed by them.

1. If this transformation became to me an object of desire, I would

express the desire by the nameless simplicity.

Simplicity without a name Is free from all external aim. With no desire, at rest and still, All things go right as of their will.
